I remember when I proposed to my wife in 2018… Man, that was so surreal! There was this big plan I had of doing it with the city skyline behind us and a whole lot of fairylights. She said yes of course. Today proposals aren’t that much different, the essence stays the same, and the moment lasts a lifetime. The only difference is its grandeur. And Kevin and Vitoria’s took the cake.

When I stepped into the Fullerton Hotel’s Presidential Suite, I wasn’t just awed by the beauty of the place, but the effort put together by Kevin and Vitoria’s friends, the incredible styling by The Wedding Stylist and the beautiful florals by CC Lee.

And so, with the stage set, Kevin led Vitoria into the room. The plan was that they’d come here for a media interview for the brand they were working together. Even so, it was a lot of effort to convince Vitoria to dress up without her getting suspicious! But once she was in (and nonethewiser), the grand plan could finally be revealed!

Scattered photo frames documenting the journey in their relationship strategically placed throughout the room, at one point, they even sat down as they listened to the theme from the Phantom of the Opera (their favourite musical) being played by a friend of theirs.

But in the end, as the curtains were drawn and Kevin led Vitoria out to the balcony overlooking the cityscape, I remembered that all too familiar scene. He’d take the knee, but would Kevin remember what he wanted to tell Vitoria? There’s something mind-boggling about proposals if I can spare a joke, it seems once a guy takes the knee, he forgets pretty much everything he plans to say before she says yes. I could be 90% sure in fact that that is the case.

But Kevin? My man here is the 10%. He recited every word he had in mind and he laid it all out from day 1 til this moment. If I were Vitoria, i’d have told him to shut up and give me that ring already. But i’m not Vitoria and she has a lot more poise than I do. She listened with rapt attention and love in her eyes. Dang. I’ve got goosebumps now.
